Gratitude from A to Z: Creativity

One of my early attempts at painting with watercolours

“Art isn’t only a painting. Art is anything that’s creative, passionate, and personal. An artists is someone who uses bravery, insight, creativity, and boldness to challenge the status quo. Art is a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn’t matter. The intent does. Art is a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another.”

― Seth Godin

I am grateful for creativity. The ability to create something new and interesting out of nothing.

There are so many ways that we can express our creativity beyond arts and music - gardening, cooking, brewing, wine making, woodworking - even how we approach and solve practical problems in a creative manner. We are all creative even if we don't think of ourselves as artists.

What are you doing today that is creative?

At the moment I am creatively avoiding going to aquafit. I appreciate your inclusion of problem-solving as a creative process - Paul is so astounding at it for someone who considers they have no creativity. He got me to go to aquafit! Also he was a good poet in the old days. Now he excels at silly rhymes. I thought I might write but I put it off too long I think. Or not. Life provides so many opportunities at unexpected times. I have started a project with Karen to celebrate the Klassen/Schellenbergs' 100 years in Canada 2023. You will hear more. I am so thrilled that more of us are exercising this before we call it quits. I immediately think of your music and Anne's art Karen had a head start, of course and Erna salted her everyday with music and art and creative cooking and... and... Helen ventured into horticulture design and publishing. I am sure there are more examples not yet shared with the world in our connections.

Thanks for the comment Krys. I believe the process of exercising creativity into our senior years both provides some protection against dementia but perhaps more importantly provides purpose to our days - a purer sense of purpose than the mercenary purpose associated with employment.
